Lynx Motor Cars was founded in 1968 principally to repair and maintain specialist sports and racing cars but quickly made their name restoring and maintaining original  Jaguar C-Types, D-Types and E-Types.

The evolution from restoration to recreation was a natural one and soon saw the introduction of its first Lynx D-Type with a road going XKSS following shortly afterwards. Lynx have produced a total of 10 XKSS cars to date with 3 being left hand drive.

Lynx’s ethos has always been to recreate an authentic XKSS using a Series II E-Type chassis plate and modified suspension components and brakes. Lynx also provides a valuable service for owners of historically important sports and racing cars, and in particular customers of the thousands of cars that have at some stage in their life passed through the Lynx workshops. Lynx has combined its engineering skills and knowledge with its design style to create an exclusive project management service for collectors and car enthusiasts.

For customers looking to purchase, we undertake a full examination and track test, and provide a written report on the condition of the car. We then advise on any appropriate actions necessary to optimise the performance of the car.

Lynx Motors International, produces a range of sports cars that include the Lynx Eventer, and has been purchased by a UK company.

Lynx, which was founded in 1968, will be continuing to build the Lynx C-Type, Lynx D-Type & XKSS and Lynx Lightweight E-Type. Future projects may also include a Lynx sports car.

Project management, consultancy and specialist restorations of historically significant vehicles will continue with John Mayston-Taylor (former Lynx Chairman & Managing Director) under Mayston Taylor & Company Ltd.

Heading up Lynx as Managing Director is Anthony (Tony) Gott, former CEO of Rolls Royce and Bentley Motors. His knowledge and engineering experience within the automotive industry ideally complements the excellent reputation of Lynx within this specialist market. “This is an exciting challenge and an opportunity to further the Lynx name and utilise the talents of our highly skilled team”, commented Tony.
