1975 MG BGT Jubilee. 112 MILES FROM NEW.
One of THREE MG's with us for our March auction.
Purchased new by the family and placed directly into storage.
The car we have here was produced in 1975 to celebrate 50 years of the MG Car Company, a limited run of 750 MGB GTs were produced; the Anniversary limited edition (otherwise known as the Jubilee model). Needless to say these have a special place in MG history and are highly regarded.
As with the other Two MG's we have, this Jubilee remains unused and unregistered. Externally the protective factory wax remains on each car, which is now dirty, with the protective plastic covers remaining in one way or another inside each car. Even a period newspaper from the day can be found in one of the cars. A true time-warp collection.
Being a family who collect low mileage, low owner cars all of us here at Mathewsons find this quite exciting. Traditionally this group of car drives so much better than a rebuilt car. Granted there are exceptions. But in our experience they're rare. We all know it shouldn't matter who assembles a classic car, but for some reason, in the vast majority of cases, a factory assembled car drives so much better. You can strip down, meticulously rebuild with new bushes here and there, do everything by the book .... but jump in and drive and your normally disappointed.
So to stand a good chance of driving the closest thing to a 'how they should drive' example you have to buy a low mileage car.
Each car requires cosmetic improvements, a good service / recommission and registration with DVLA. (V55 with us in the office) But what a fabulous rewarding project each and every one would be. One of the MG's has covered just 12 miles. Yes TWELVE MILES with the 'highest' mileage car having covered 172 miles.
It was fairly common practice to drive cars to dealerships back in the day, so were assuming this could of been the case with the 172 mile car.
Please come along and take a look. I think you'd get just as excited as us.!
We are instructed by the executors to offer this vehicle at our March auction and to submit the best offer received on the day,
An answer will be given following the fall of the hammer. We expect the MGB GT's to achieve in excess of 8,000 each. We must stress these figures are purely an opinion.
The best bid on the day will be submitted to the vendor.
