Beautiful 1958 Mercedes-Benz 300SC Coupe with very classic and beautifully balanced lines.
Produced between model years 1955-1958.
The 300 series cars were the definitive “flagship” of their model lineup. First introduced at the Paris Auto Show in 1951, they would have an eight year production span terminating in model year 1958. During that time there would be two different iterations of this two door personal luxury car; the 300S (produced from September 1951- August 1955) and the 300SC (produced from September 1955- April 1958).
Both the Mercedes-Benz 300S and 300SC were offered in three body styles: Coupe, Cabriolet and Roadster. These cars were expensive – costing more than a comparable Rolls-Royce and literally twice as much as its sister Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing. The list of the “rich and famous” owners included Aga Khan, Bing Crosby, Errol Flynn and Clark Gable. The cars were assembled at the Mercedes Benz “Sindelfingen Karosserie” – under the direction of Design Chief Hermann Ahrens – whose coachwork was legendary for classic styling combined with hand crafted workmanship.
This 300SC presents elegantly in the factory correct hue of Light Burgundy Metallic. The tan full leather interior is tastefully offset with a burled hardwood dashboard and maroon piping on the seats. It also comes with a complete set of color matching fitted luggage. The Mercedes-Benz 300SC differed from its 300S predecessor with the following changes; the adoption of fuel injection, increased compression ratio, power brakes and hood trim that included horizontal chrome moldings. The rest of the car remained largely unchanged based on the wisdom of the initial design which included 4-wheel independent suspension, the legendary 3.0 liter inline 6-cylinder engine and alloy trimmed wheels. This 300SC has been authentically restored by a respected marque specialist and is ready for enjoyment.
1956 Mercedes-Benz 300 SC Roadster
Only 53 were made of this second series 300 S roadster model was among the most expensive and luxurious cars available on the German market.
In addition to the coupe variant, production of which began in 1952, there were also a convertible A and a roadster. In technical terms, the 300 S was largely based on the 300 sedan and positioned as a particular representative car with a sporty touch – meeting the highest demands made on roadholding and speed.
The engine (110 kW/150 hp) gave the car a remarkable top speed of 175 km/h. The revised 300 Sc version made its debut in September 1955. It was now fitted with a single-joint swing axle with a low pivot point; direct injection replacing the carburetors raised engine output to 129 kW (175 hp). Both versions, the 300 S and the 300 Sc, ranked among the most exclusive Mercedes-Benz passenger car models in the post-war period and, like the 300 SL, are highly coveted classics among vintage car enthusiasts today.
