The car was sold early in its life by Algar Enterprises of Pennsylvania to a New Jersey resident, with whom it remained until the late 1960s. It then spent several years in a Midwest collection, where it received a color change to red before being acquired by Keith Martin of Sports Car Market. The car was then owned by an Arizona collector until his passing in 2018, after which it remained in storage for a year. Since the selling dealer’s acquisition in 2019 the car has received a carburetor service, brake system rebuild, tune-up, new battery, fluid and filter changes, and brightwork refinishing.

This Sport Zagato 2.8 was the feature of a 2007 cover story for Hemmings Sports & Exotic Car magazine, and has also been displayed at the Concorso Italiano in Monterey, California and the Arizona Concours d’Elegance.

The earliest variant of the Flaminia Sport was introduced in 1958 with coachwork by Carrozzeria Zagato, including a “double bubble” roof that was carried over through later iterations of the model. Recessed, covered headlights on early examples gave way to vertical headlights in 1961, and triple Weber carburetors were also added that year to the model’s 2.5-liter engine, which was increased in displacement to 2.8 liters in 1963. This example is one of 70 Sport models built before production shifted to the Kamm-tailed Super Sport, though 37 were converted to the updated specification before leaving the factory.
