Ariel Motorcycles Model A 1929

This bike was originally purchased by a North Canterbury gentleman in 1932, handed down a generation to his son in 1966 and became part of the NZCML collection in January 2009.
It was virtually unused from pre-WWII until restored in 2007 and has covered less than 200 miles since the rebuild. Although it has had a complete mechanical overhaul it still retains the original piston and ring. Original registration papers are held along with a handwritten payment slip for the original purchase and a hand written invoice showing the restoration costs.
This bike competed in the 2014 Ariel rally in Christchurch with Murray Schwass at the helm and won the best presented side-valve bike. It runs very well and its last outing was at the Nelson Vintage Car Club’s 50th reunion meeting display at the Richmond showgrounds on the 13th April, 2014.
