The Auburn 8-Eighty-Eight Sedan is an automobile that was manufactured by Auburn of Auburn, Indiana.
The Auburn 8-88 was powered by a 247 cubic-inch Lycoming inline eight-cylinder engine which produced 88 horsepower. They had Lockheed four-wheel hydraulic brakes and a Bijur one-shot chassis lubrication system that was also featured on Packard and Rolls-Royce automobiles. The wheelbase measures 125 inches and the Sport Sedan weighed 3590 pounds. The price tag on the Sport Sedan was $1,595. This body style was popular with auburn buyers as it was the least expensive eight on the market.The Sport Sedan was a close-coupled blind-quarter sedan with seating for five passengers.
To gain the attention of a wider audience of buyers, four Auburn Speedsters were shipped to Europe for racing. One of those vehicles was shipped to Malcolm Campbell, the land speed record holder who was the London distributor for Auburn. Auburn also competed in South America and the United States gaining much attention for the company by their performance.
