Elegant, dynamic, powerful - the new BMW ALPINA B3 Bi-Turbo combines performance with comfort and offers unparalleled driving culture.

With 301 kW (410 hp) and a maximum torque of 600 Nm, the straigh-six 3.0 liter engine with direct injection and two turbochargers ensures thrilling performance. The B3 Bi-Turbo Saloon accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in just 4.3 seconds and can reach a top speed of 303 km/h. Efficiency is outstanding, with a combined fuel consumption of just 7.6 l/100km and 177 g/km CO2 measured according to ECE norm. The adaptive ALPINA sport suspension system and the 8-Speed Sport-Automatic transmission with ALPINA SWITCH-TRONIC deliver maximum comfort and impressive dynamics.

Perfect proportions and modern design. The new BMW ALPINA B3 Bi-Turbo gains subtle ALPINA design and equipment enhancements as part of the recent BMW model update. Full LED headlights, now part of the ALPINA standard equipment, in combination with a new front spoiler make the B3 Bi-Turbo appear even more focussed and dynamic. The stainless steel exhaust system impresses with a sporty soundtrack and powerful visuals - the two twin tailpipes are integrated into the new rear valence.

Highest material quality and refined interior design elements go hand-in-hand with an extended standard equipment level for more comfort and security.

Powertrain

The 2979 cm³ straight-six cylinder engine with direct fuel injection and Bi-Turbo charging produces an impressive 301 kW (410 hp) between 5500 and 6250 rpm and delivers a maximum torque of 600 Nm at 3000 rpm. This enormous pulling power combined with the excellently matched 8-speed sport automatic transmission means that engine response is instantaneous and effortless at all times - a central ingredient for the ALPINA typical driving experience. A prerequisite for this is the concept of twin turbocharging. This offers the advantage of fast response due to a low mass inertia of the turbochargers (as opposed to a single, large turbocharger) while at the same time allowing for the necessary air throughput required for maximum power output. Engine response and power delivery is sharpened even further by an electronically controlled by-pass valve system. Specially designed and dethrottled induction ducts guide the air with minimum losses from the air intake via the air filter housing to the turbochargers. Optimal utilisation of the power potential is guaranteed by a high-performance cooling package including large-volume intercooler with flow-optimised boxes made from aluminium. Specific NGK spark plugs as well as a forged steel crankshaft are among the internal engine measures incorporated in the specially cast aluminium crankcase. The engine, equipped with Auto Start Stop function and fully variable valve timing, has a combined fuel consumption in accordance with the ECE norm of only 7.6 to 8.0 l/100 km and emissions of 177 to 186 g/km CO2, depending on model.

Transmission

The 8-speed sport automatic transmission has been explicitly adapted in cooperation with ZF for the requirements of BMW ALPINA automobiles and offers exemplary shift comfort with a pronounced sporty characteristic.

The adapted mechatronics and a special torque converter ensure that the high power output is transmitted with maximum efficiency and comfort to the driven wheels.

ALPINA SWITCH-TRONIC is not just the description for the traditional shift buttons on the back of the steering wheel, but also means that the transmission software is explicitly tailored for every drivetrain type.

The 8-speed sport automatic transmission combined with ALPINA typical high torque output at low engine speeds allows effortless, relaxed and economical driving in high gears and outstanding cruising comfort on long journeys. Simultaneously the hardware design of the transmission does not require any significant reduction in torque when changing gear and allows for impressively dynamic and very fast gear changes under full load. As such the transmission plays a crucial role in facilitating very quick acceleration during dynamic driving but also plays an important part in reducing fuel consumption thanks to BMW Efficient Dynamics Technologies such as the ECO PRO mode as well as the Auto Start Stop function.
