Harley Davidson Motorcycles J 1926

In 1926 three 749 Model J bikes were sold.
This is a very rare and unusually stunning example of a nearly 90 year old vintage Harley-Davidson.
This is the 1000cc V-twin IOE (inlet over exhaust) with exposed push rods. Hand change with three speed gear and foot clutch, triple fuel tank (Fuel Oil & Reserve Fuel) and an ammeter tank instrument. No speedo/odometer was fitted.
The bike has been completely stripped and dismantled to the last nut and bolt. Professionally stripped to bare metal, zinc coated and repainted in original White and Blue (USA Police) colours. It has been rebuilt using original parts. All documents and receipts are available. The only non-original part is the coil which is from a 1930 Harley. It has a 1927 front wheel and front brake which were not fitted to the 1926 version (this actually makes it a safer bike to ride). The bike features the rare side support bar in addition to the front and rear wheel centre supports.
It was purchased in the UK in 2008 and came with handcraft leather saddle bags, tool rolls and tools, owner’s manual, handbook and spare parts manual, together with an original page advertising it new from a 1926 ‘Motorcycle‘ magazine and many other books.
