Moto Guzzi Motorcycles Pls 1938

Pls 1938 Featured Image

This 1938 PLS 250cc was very reliable in its day and helped establish Moto Guzzi reputation for solid and reliable road machines.

It has been looked after well and the restoration was quite extensive. It shows a few marks of time if you look closely but we do consider it to be very original.

This bike’s history is a little different, coming to the Nelson collection from collectors the US in 2009.

The sales script was as follows:
This is something that you simply do not see every day – a 70 year old motorcycle that is brand new! Here is the story: This motorcycle sat in a Libyan Moto Guzzi dealership in Tripoli thru at least part of WW2. One can only imagine what the soldiers of assorted armies said and thought as they passed by the motorcycle shop stepped in and saw the old girl sitting there. At some point she went back to Italy and spent a decade or two in storage and then was pulled out of storage and restored by the Moto Guzzi factory for its museum. In the mid-80s the factory museum sold off some of its bikes and this is reputed to be one of them. Regardless she wound up in the window of a Chicago Moto Guzzi dealership and sat there until the owner decided to let his extensive collection go due to health reasons. I was fortunate enough to be in the right place at the right time and brought the old girl back to my little museum where she has been sitting until today.
