New Hudson Motorcycles Via 1915

This particular model was presented to the British War Department for evaluation prior to WW1.
It was turned down by the Army in favour of Triumph and Douglas, most likely because of their greater ability to manufacture in much greater volume. The Russian and French War Departments did, however, purchase a number of this particular model.
This lovely bike was purchased from an avid vintage motorcycle collector in Masterton. Although restored, we have little history of what was done, and or when, to the machine. It has a VIN Number and been registered and dated as authentic with the New Zealand Vintage Car Club.
It is a 500cc machine with model designation VIA, it has a Moss 3 speed gearbox with belt drive, new tyres have been fitted and the Magneto has been rebuilt. It is a little different in its configuration in that it has both a foot and hand clutch. The Carbide generator and acetylene headlight parts are yet to be refurbished and fitted.
This motorcycle joined the NZCM collection in 2008.
