NSU Motorenwerke Prima 1960

The Italian Lambretta company had their machines made under license in many countries around the world even as far away as Brazil.
The German NSU motorcycle manufacturer although a major player in the motorcycle industry at the time, chose to produce its scooter range by building Lambrettas under license for the German market. It was a ten year agreement but when the deal expired in 1955, NSU decided to make their in house designed machine and so the birth of the NSU Prima. The scooter had a lot of DNA from the Italian model and its heritage could easily be recognized and known as “German Lambrettas” to the aficionados of the time. The name Prima making the inference that the German machine was what the name said…’Prima”..top of the line.
Our collection example is from 1960 and one can see the technical and styling advances the Germans are well known for and features include electric start and shaft drive all with the reliability we can expect from such a large manufacturer with quality controls second to none.
