John Marston Ltd was a multi-talented company based at Wolverhampton in the heartland of the British engineering and industrial region.

Prior to car and motorcycle manufacturing the company had specialised in the manufacture of the finest quality enamelled goods and bicycles. It was in 1912 that they turned to motorcycle manufacture at the quaintly named “Sunbeamland“ Works.

With the outbreak of hostilities in Europe in 1914, the majority of Sunbeam production was earmarked for military purposes and Sunbeams 500cc bike was chosen in preference to many options from other manufacturers. This bikes engine number is stamped with the suffix GS which reflects its designated use for Government Service.

This attractive machine is presented in traditional Sunbeam Livery of black with gold lining and lettering. It is equipped with cast aluminium foot rests and Lucas lighting. It has been ridden in many organised events in the UK and became part of the NZ Classic Motorcycles collection in 2009.
