The origins of this exquisite concept car embodies the finest American muscle intertwined with stunning Italian artistry and design.

Debuting as the brightest superstar at the 1966 Geneva Motorshow…the Bizzarrini 5300 SI Spyder is the cabriolet version of the Bizzarrini 5300 GT.

Under the strict and brilliant tutelage of Giotto Bizzarrini himself…who is best known for the first prototype of the Ferrari GTO and his former alliances with both Lamborghini and Ferrari…this rare supercar began its accession into automotive history.

A total of three Spyder roadsters were hand built. The first was a red Spyder (Targa)…the other two are silver convertibles considered to be even rarer…and all were styled and hand finished by Carrozzeria Stile Italia (SI) in Torino Italy. The last two silver roadsters were introduced in 1967 and 1968 respectively and they both are uniquely hand crafted differently than the Geneva prototipo. The Geneva show Spyder is refined and fitted with a targa top that can present as a full on convertible or a coupe with detailed removable roof panels. The other two are true cabriolets in every manner and fashion. The 5300 SI Spyder boasts a relatively competitive weight at 2535lbs…and features an all aluminum alloy shell that was formed by hand (no molds were used)…it was then welded onto a tubular frame. These exceptional examples were equipped with state-of-the-art racing technology, Koni adjustable shock-absorbers, power assisted brakes, three fuel tanks and three fuel pumps.

A few other unique elements this gorgeous race car offers are…retractable head lamps, luxuriously molded seats, opulent fine leather interior, magnesium knock-off wheels, and of course the 3-way multi-functional roof…a rarity at the time.

Perfect placement of the motor gave this stunning roadster an ideal weight distribution of 50/50. American muscle made these cars durable and reliable…and also made for the perfect union with the sophisticated Italian design of Bizzarrini. The two convertible roadsters are fitted with full race rear independent suspension and optional Side Draft magnesium manifold w/4-45 DCOE #9 Weber carburetors fueled by a 327/420bhp Chevrolet Corvette small block V-8 that was tweaked to produce 420hp with a top speed of 145+mph…keeping it far ahead of the Ferrari 275 GTB on the track.
The unmatched beauty of these classic creations represent the magic and passion of Giotto Bizzarrini, and they remain both timeless in elegance, and also relevant as competitive race cars both on the track and street.

These three legendary automobiles are considered “irreplaceable” and are currently held in private collections…and can sometimes be viewed at prestigious concours globally.
