Description
Founded in 1919 following a merger of aircraft makers Armstong-Whitworth and Siddeley-Deasey, Armstrong Siddeley were synonymous for making stylish, well-equipped cars in the 1930s and 40s. They released their post-war Hurricane in 1945 as a tribute to the highly successful WW2 fighter plane.
The Hurricane used steel, aluminium and wood in its bodywork and was powered by an advanced 16hp 1991cc six-cylinder engine that featured an overhead cam. It also sported innovative torsion bar independent front suspension. Some 2,606 Hurricanes were made at their Coventry plant, up until 1953 when production stopped.
