Description
Americans used the term 'British Invasion' to describe the sociocultural phenomenon in which the UK's '60s counterculture found its way stateside, but Britain were actually doing the same thing with sports cars. Launched in 1961, the Triumph TR4 proved succesful on the road and on the racetrack on both sides of the Atlantic, with many, such as this 1964 example, being sold in left-hand drive to an adoring American public.
Now repatriated to the UK, this Triumph was restored between 2013 and 2015 by a retired mechanical engineer in Scotland. It has been owned and loved by the vendor since it was completed, but a hip replacement means he now has to sadly say goodbye to the car he dreamed of owning since he was a teenager.
It was a fundamentally sound car to start with, but was stripped, structurally repaired, converted to right-hand drive and professionally painted during its restoration, as well as being completely retrimmed inside.
