1995 ASTON MARTIN VIRAGE VOLANTE COSMETIC WIDEBODY is available now at classified from Car and Classic Classifieds

The production Virage Volante debuted at the Geneva Motor Show in March 1991 following the appearance of a prototype at the previous year’s Birmingham equivalent. Inevitably the Volante version added additional weight to the already solid coupe, so some customers felt they needed more power. Consequently, Aston’s Works Service Department offered an uprated 6.3L conversion. This offered upgrades to suspension and brakes to accompany the bigger, more powerful V8. Additionally, a widebody was fitted to accommodate bigger wheels with skirts and spoilers to better manage the airflow. A number of customers loved the look but, frankly, didn’t need all the mechanical upgrades. So was born the “Cosmetic Widebody” which kept the looks but retained the “stock” 5.3L V8 engine and mechanicals. A total of 26 Cosmetics were thought to have been built by the factory.
