TVR “M” Series 3900cc V8 1972

The car started life as the 9th 2500M made by TVR in March 1972 and was fitted with a Triumph straight six engine of 2500cc. It was the subject of a total ground-up rebuild over the period 1996 to 2000 and conversion to V8 power. The entire rebuild and subsequent improvements are covered in a full photographic record and in many TVR Car Club “Sprint” magazine articles.
Chassis/Engine: Chassis, brakes and suspension totally rebuilt with new parts where necessary, new fuel tank with conversion to 3500cc Rover V8 carried out, (1996 until August 2000). Photographic record of this work
Subsequent update from to John Eales 3900cc Rover V8 with cross drilled block (November/December 2006). 14,500 miles approx on this engine to date.
The car is featured in “TVR A Passion to Succeed, The Martin Lilley Era 1965 -1981” by Peter Filby, on pages 215, 224 and 227.
Carburettor: Edelbrock four barrel down draft with K&N air filter.
Exhaust: Stainless steel manifold and exhaust system.
Gearbox: Rover SD1 five speed box with hydraulic clutch.
Differential: Salisbury Powr-lok.
Cooling: Aluminium alloy two core radiator, using two Spal fans with automatic switching and manual override.
Suspension: Front, Leda adjustable coil shock absorbers; Rear, AVO adjustable coil shock absorbers.
Brakes:
Front, disc brakes with Mintex 1144 pads;
Rear, drum brakes with Adrian Venn brake shoes.
Wheels: Revolution five spoke wheels (6” front and 7” rear). Plus spare.
Colour: Vauxhall Arden Blue.
Safety: Bolted in safety roll over hoop, with all parts separately removable. Compliant with Motorsport UK regulations with only logbook. Only event ever entered on 9th May 2009.
Both inertia reel seat belts and harness fitted.
Fuel Cap: Locking fuel cap fitted under original cap.
Bonnet Hinges: Modified bonnet hinges to allow bonnet to open fully to full engine bay access.
Fire Extinguisher: fitted
Tax & MOT: Road tax free and does not need an annual MOT.
Documentation: Documentation log of all work undertaken by the current owner.
Tax disc, old MoT, receipts etc.
Spares: Spare gearbox’s, seats etc are also available if wanted.
Excellent condition
