The winners of the News UK Motor Awards, were revealed this weekend in print and digital coverage across The Sunday Times, Driving.co.uk, The Sun on Sunday and TheSun.co.uk.

The awards, now in their third year, continue to recognise innovation across all motoring segments from luxury to LCVs, from city cars to SUVs and are judged by readers as well as automotive journalists from across News UK’s market leading newsbrands. Voting was supported by trails on talkSPORT, talkRADIO and Virgin Radio.

Jeremy Clarkson, key reviewer for The Sunday Times and presenter of The Grand Tour, named his SuperCar of the Year as the Eagle Lightweight GT and his People’s Car of the Year as the Mini John Cooper Works GP. Lando Norris, Britain’s youngest ever Formula One driver, was named Motoring Personality of the Year.

The Porsche Taycan and Volkswagen Golf 8 were crowned joint winners of  The Sunday Times Car of the Year whilst the Vauxhall Corsa-e was named The Sun Car of the Year. Winners of all categories were featured in the Motor Awards features in The Sun on Sunday and The Sunday Times Magazine on 4th October, as well as extensive digital coverage on Driving.co.uk and TheSun.co.uk.

Rob Walsh, Client Partnerships Director, Automotive, News UK, said: “We’re thrilled to reveal our Motor Awards 2020 winners and hope they shine a light on the enduring spirit of innovation that the UK motoring industry continues to deliver. Despite the challenges the market faces, the breadth and quality of new models launched continues to drive fierce but positive competition, pushing new technological boundaries. News UK is committed to supporting its automotive partners and we congratulate all our winners on their success.”

Will Dron, Editor, Driving.co.uk, said: "Huge congratulations to our winners. The final decisions were very hard to make, which is why The Sunday Times ended up with two cars of the year! Just being shortlisted means we would happily recommend the product. It's disappointing not to be able to hold an awards ceremony in 2020 but it's gratifying to be able to recognise the sterling work of the car industry, which is not just adapting to but often excelling in a rapidly-changing landscape."

Rob Gill, Motors Editor, The Sun, said: “We love the Corsa in Britain but you’ll love the electric Corsa-e even more. It is a gem of a car. Fun, easy, smart and guilt-free with a real-world range to suit most people. It looks no different to a normal Corsa but it won’t stain your conscience or the lungs of little ones. This is the right car at the right time and a worthy winner of The Sun Car of the Year 2020.”
